Woman’s Community Educator

Position: Women’s Community Educator

Position: Part time October 1st, 2026 – March 31st, 2027, with the possibility of permanent full time

Position Summary The Women’s Community Educator will work with communities to build local knowledge and community capacity to respond to HIV, HCV and STBBIs among at-risk women in Niagara and coordinate with other agency staff on initiatives to improve the quality of life for those living with or affected by HIV, HCV and STBBIs.

The Woman’s Community Educator will foster a systematic, evidence-informed and effective response throughout the Niagara Region, to reduce the transmission of HIV and other sexually transmitted and blood born infections.

Core Responsibilities:

· Using the Provincial Women’s HIV/AIDS Initiative (WHAI) areas of focus as a guide, in concert with agency directives, develop and implement comprehensive strategies to build community capacity to reduce the spread of HIV, HCV and STBBIs among at-risk women.

· Foster collaborative relationships and strengthen referral pathways to improve care coordination across the health and social service system.

· In collaboration with leadership, develop and maintain partnerships with local organizations who serve this priority population, to build capacity to increase awareness, prevention and connection to care, reduce HIV stigma, address inequities in healthcare, and strengthen referral networks.

- Design and deliver both general HIV and women specific presentations on a broad range of HIV-related issues, including stigma, social determinants of health, safer sex, harm reduction, and HIV prevention among at-risk women and organizations that serve women.

· Work with agency leadership to advocate for equitable access to services and systemic improvements for people living with or at risk for HIV. · Promote inclusive principles and challenge stigma associated with HIV and harm reduction strategies.

· Maintain awareness of emerging trends, service gaps, and community needs and communicate findings

· Maintain and distribute current resource materials and other HIV and harm reduction tools to clients and community partners, as required.

· Lead and coordinate support and activity groups for woman-identifying clients living with HIV, in collaboration with Support staff, the ACB Community Educator and other agency departments as required.

· Work collaboratively with the other Community Educators, Support and Streetworks teams, playing an active role in reducing silos and promoting team-based approaches to community development.

· Keep supervisor informed on activities, work plan targets and shifts and trends in the community that may impact current or future community development or advocacy efforts.





Documentation, Data Collection & Quality Assurance

Accurate documentation, data collection, and file management are essential functions of the Woman’s Community Educator role

· Track service targets and outcome measures mandated by agency and funder requirements.

· Prepare monthly Board Reports according to scheduled deadlines

· Submit semi-annual WHAI reports and provide assistance with semi-annual Ministry of Health reports.

· Contribute to data collection initiatives that support program evaluation and continuous quality improvement.

· Monitor and evaluate program activities to ensure optimal quality of service delivery to local communities.

· Utilize agency templates and resources when hosting events, ensuring adherence to tracking requirements, financial processes and accurate reporting.

Additional Expectations

· Participate in professional development opportunities and required training.

· Ensure confidentiality and compliance with privacy legislation (PHIPA), agency policies, and documentation standards.

· Maintain knowledge of community resources and update resource information as required.

· Contribute to shared resource calendars, maintain accurate information within the shift plan and other information systems.

· Utilize Teams, shared drives, and agency communication platforms to support collaboration and information sharing.

· Assist with service coverage across agency programs when operationally required.

· Participate in program planning, evaluation, and quality improvement initiatives.

· Support and promote Positive Living Niagara events, education sessions, and community engagement activities.

· Take an active role and represent the agency at local and provincial networks including WHAI and its sub-committees.

· Supervise and direct students on placement when required.

· Adhere to the Mission Statement and Policy and Procedures of Positive Living Niagara.

· Represent Positive Living Niagara in a professional manner.

· Promote teamwork both within Positive Living Niagara and when working with partnering Community Support Service Organizations.

· Perform any other duties assigned by the Care Coordination Supervisor or designate.

Qualifications The incumbent will have the skills gained through a relevant university degree or college diploma and have relevant experience:





· in the social services or health sector

· preparing and presenting educational presentations both online and in-person

· community outreach and education

· demonstrated comfort in working with at-risk women, using an anti-racism, anti-oppression and harm reduction lens.

· Comfort in working in street-level outreach and engagement

· Comfort with non-judgmental and inclusive conversations around sexual health, harm-reduction and substance use.

· Ability to work with diverse groups of people and communities

Requirements of the Role

· This role serves the entire Niagara Region and will require the successful candidate to travel, often with supplies for trainings/presentation/activities. Access to a reliable vehicle and a valid full G license is required - reliable alternatives may be considered but must be discussed prior to acceptance of the role.

· Current vulnerable sector police check required (within 6 months)

· Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends.

· This is an on-site, in person position. The successful candidate will have the ability to work safely and effectively in office, community, and street-level environments.

· Second language skills are considered an asset.
