Join UBC as the Senior GIC Assistant, focusing on air photo retrieval and client engagement in the Department of Geography. This diverse role caters to both academic and public inquiries effectively.
As part of CUPE 2950, you'll be responsible for fulfilling air photo requests while supporting students and maintaining library operations. Your responsibilities will also include supervising temporary staff and providing essential training. Ensuring accuracy in air photo orders is critical to sustaining UBC's reputation for quality support in geographic research.
Key Responsibilities:
• Manage air photo requests for clients and students
• Identify needed locations using NTS maps
• Produce and track invoices for services rendered
• Oversee the acquisition and maintenance of air photo collections
• Provide in-person reference support for academic research
Requirements:
• High School education plus two years Library Technician diploma
• Three years of applicable experience in library services
• Awareness of diverse perspectives and commitment to inclusivity
• Familiarity with academic databases preferred
• Robust skills in office software such as Word and Excel
