Our client is a well-established construction company with a solid reputation for quality projects and a people-first culture. They are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Project Accountant to join their busy team and support the financial administration of multiple construction projects.

This is a hands‑on role with a strong focus on accounts payable, project costing, billing, and financial reporting , working closely with Project Managers and the accounting team to ensure project financials are accurate and up to date.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage project-related accounts payable, including processing invoices, matching invoices to purchase orders and contracts, and resolving discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate project cost records and ensure expenses are properly coded and allocated.
- Support project billing, including progress billings, holdbacks, and related documentation.
- Prepare and maintain project financial reports, forecasts, and cost tracking.
- Monitor project budgets, commitments, actual costs, and variances, escalating discrepancies when required.




- Assist Project Managers with project financial reporting and month‑end processes.
- Maintain accurate vendor and subcontractor records and documentation.
- Work closely with Project Managers, subcontractors, suppliers, and the accounting team to resolve financial and invoice‑related issues.
- Ensure project documentation and financial records are accurate, complete, and up to date.

Qualifications

- 2+ years of experience in project accounting, construction accounting, or a similar role.
- Strong accounts payable experience, ideally within the construction industry.
- Good understanding of accounting principles and project costing.
- Experience working with subcontractor and vendor invoices.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and problem‑solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with construction accounting or project management software is an asset.
