About the Position

TCS Commercial Exhaust Cleaning Inc. is looking for an experienced, dependable and safety-focused Lead Technician/Supervisor to lead commercial kitchen exhaust cleaning crews.

This is a hands-on field position. The supervisor will work alongside the technicians while directing the cleaning of commercial kitchen exhaust hoods, filters, ductwork and rooftop exhaust fans. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring every service is completed safely, thoroughly and according to company procedures and applicable NFPA 96 requirements.

Most services are completed overnight when restaurants and commercial kitchens are closed. The position involves physically demanding and greasy work, climbing ladders, accessing rooftops and operating pressure-washing and specialized exhaust-cleaning equipment.

Responsibilities

- Lead and work alongside a crew of commercial kitchen exhaust cleaning technicians
- Review the scope of work and conduct a pre-service walkthrough before beginning each job
- Assign responsibilities and provide clear instructions to crew members
- Clean commercial kitchen hoods, filters, ductwork and rooftop exhaust fans
- Ensure kitchen equipment and surrounding areas are properly protected before cleaning
- Oversee the safe setup and operation of pressure washers, hoses, degreasers, ladders and other equipment




- Inspect the entire exhaust system before and after cleaning
- Identify and document deficiencies, damage, access issues and potential fire or safety hazards
- Ensure all accessible areas are cleaned according to company standards and applicable NFPA 96 requirements
- Take complete and clearly labelled before-and-after photographs
- Complete service reports, inspection documentation and maintenance records
- Perform a final quality-control inspection before leaving the site
- Confirm that the kitchen and rooftop areas are clean, organized and free of damage
- Communicate professionally with clients, technicians and management
- Train, coach and evaluate new and existing technicians
- Ensure the crew follows company policies, fall-protection requirements and workplace safety procedures
- Maintain company vehicles, tools and cleaning equipment
- Report incidents, equipment problems and incomplete work to management immediately

Qualifications

- Available to work overnight shifts and must be available on weekends if needed
- Must have a valid driver’s licence
- Previous commercial kitchen exhaust cleaning experience is required
- Previous experience leading or supervising a field-service or commercial cleaning crew




- Understanding of commercial kitchen exhaust systems, including hoods, filters, ductwork and rooftop fans
- Knowledge of NFPA 96 requirements is strongly preferred
- ASTTBC certification or another relevant industry certification is an asset
- Experience using pressure washers, degreasers, hand tools and specialized cleaning equipment
- Solid leadership, communication and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Able to complete accurate service reports and photographic documentation
- Comfortable working overnight shifts, on ladders and on rooftops
- Physically capable of lifting up and performing demanding work for extended periods
- Valid Class 5 driver’s licence with a clean driving record
- Legally eligible to work in Canada
