Globally in 2019, over 2.4 billion people experience health conditions that would benefit through rehabilitation; a demand that has increased by 63% over the past 20 years. We create new knowledge to benefit people in London, Ontario and around the world, informing healthcare practice and policy for rehabilitation.
We work in partnership with our patient and community research partners to enable achievement of shared priorities and clinically meaningful outcomes. We train the research leaders of the future through high quality trainee experiences and celebrate their successes.
Our research is focused in four research themes that address priority areas for research.
Responsibilities
The Research Associate will apply advanced expertise and knowledge to research projects and conduct or oversee original, independent research under the general direction of the Principal Investigator. The incumbent may play a leadership role in training and mentoring staff, graduate and undergraduate students, and postdoctoral fellows, as well as resolving issues that arise within the research environment. The incumbent will develop research and project plans and contribute to the design, implementation, and management of research studies. Responsibilities include evaluating and interpreting research findings, developing analytical models or frameworks, and preparing reports, presentations, manuscripts, and other materials for academic, professional, community, and funding agency audiences. The successful candidate will have experience coordinating multi-site research projects and collaborating effectively with interdisciplinary teams. They will demonstrate expertise in qualitative research methods, including participant recruitment, focus group coordination, qualitative data management, and analysis, as well as strong project management and organizational skills.
Qualifications
Education:
- Master's degree in a relevant discipline; PhD in a relevant discipline preferred
Experience:
- 5years' working experience in a related academic research environment
Skills, Abilities & Expertise:
- Coordinate day-to-day activities for the CIHR-funded Advancing Health Justice in Physiotherapy project, including project timelines, meetings, documentation, and communication among investigators, collaborators, and project partners
- Coordinate qualitative research activities, including participant recruitment, scheduling, focus group logistics, ethics documentation, transcription, and research data management
- Support data organization and qualitative analysis, maintain project records, and assist with preparation of reports and other research deliverables
- Contribute to knowledge mobilization activities, including preparing presentations, reports, manuscripts, and other dissemination materials for academic, professional, and community audiences
- Monitor project progress and coordinate activities to support achievement of project milestones, grant deliverables, and successful completion of the study
- Demonstrated working knowledge of relevant scientific/research principles
- Ability to collaborate across internal and external boundaries to meet common objectives, improve outcomes and support work beyond one's own unit
- Communication skills to describe technical concepts effectively to both novice and sophisticated users, and to complete detailed analytics and reports
- Advanced skills in software and applications used to produce and analyze research outcomes
- Ability to provide solutions and ideas for improvement by using imaginative approaches where constructive thinking and innovation are required
- Detail-oriented with an ability to function and process information with high levels of accuracy- Familiarity with University research policies and practices
- Ability to adhere to legislated safety requirements and Western safety policies
- Commitment to ongoing professional development with a desire to take on new challenges
- Ability to multi-task and maintain an organized and effective personal work environment
- Ability to work in a fluid and evolving work environment with changing deadlines and priorities
