Become a Legal Counsel for Yukon Courts and play a pivotal role in the administration of justice. You will handle a variety of legal matters crucial to court operations.
This permanent full time position demands a knowledgeable attorney to act as in-house legal counsel for the Yukon Courts. Reporting to the Chief Justice, you will tackle complex and diverse legal issues while supervising judicial assistants and students. Your expertise will foster a deep understanding of judicial independence and procedural necessities.
Key Responsibilities:
• Advise on judicial administration and legal matters
• Handle complex litigation and solicitor responsibilities
• Supervise judicial assistants and law students
• Collaborate with the judiciary on legal issues
• Involve in policy development and recommendations
Requirements:
• Experience in Litigation or Solicitor law practice
• Good standing with Law Society of Yukon or eligibility
• Bilingual (English/French) is an asset
• Knowledge of criminal law and Yukon First Nations
• Security clearance must be obtained
