Become a key player at the Law Society of Ontario as Counsel, focusing on Licensing Equity Initiatives. You will work on ensuring equitable access to licensing for diverse candidates.
In this role, you will support candidates, especially from Indigenous and equity-deserving demographics, by navigating complex licensing requirements. Your mission is to apply EDI principles to licensing policies, ensuring fair and inclusive processes. Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, you will help develop materials and programs that strengthen community relationships and support equity in the legal profession.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide proactive support to equity-deserving candidates • Conduct research on licensing policy changes • Create inclusive training materials for stakeholders • Enhance relationships with law schools and community groups • Recommend improvements to licensing processes for EDI
Requirements: • Juris Doctor (JD) or LLB necessary • Class L1 licence from the Law Society of Ontario • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience • Knowledge of EDI and Indigenous community matters • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
