Take the initiative in conserving rare species as a Species Recovery Officer with Dover District Council. This exciting full-time role focuses on protecting eight chalk specialists in East Kent's landscapes.
As part of the Champions of the Chalk project under the White Cliffs Countryside Partnership, you will lead habitat management efforts alongside the Land Management team. Conduct ecological surveys, engage with stakeholders, and create long-term Species Recovery Plans. Collaborating with volunteers and landowners, your role is vital for ensuring the sustainability of endangered species.
Key Responsibilities:
• Coordinate habitat management initiatives for target species • Conduct monitoring and ecological surveys for assessment • Develop cooperative recovery plans with landowners • Manage project timelines, reporting, and team activities • Facilitate volunteer engagement in conservation practices
Requirements: • Experience in habitat management and species conservation • Proficient in project management and ecological reporting • Ability to liaise effectively with stakeholders • Skills in performing ecological surveys and monitoring • Enthusiasm for promoting biodiversity and conservation efforts
