Role Description

Flare is looking for an Event Operations Lead to oversee the execution, quality, and continuous improvement of our events across Canada. This is not a traditional event manager role. Our local event Hosts run events in person, while you will manage the systems, people, and processes that keep events running smoothly across multiple cities. You will oversee event scheduling, host coordination, venue logistics, administration, quality control, reporting, and operational escalations. You will also use event data and customer feedback to identify opportunities for improvement and test new event formats. The ideal candidate is highly organized, analytical, proactive, and comfortable managing a distributed team remotely.

**This is a remote position, only requiring in-person work when in office running events. The ideal candidate will be based in Toronto, ON**

Responsibilities

- Oversee day-to-day event operations across Canadian markets.
- Manage the national event calendar, host scheduling, venue coordination, and operational requirements.
- Onboard, support, coach, and manage Flare’s network of Event Hosts.
- Handle cancellations, host absences, venue issues, and other event-related escalations.
- Maintain accurate event records, reporting, documentation, and administrative follow-up.
- Develop and improve SOPs, checklists, and processes.
- Monitor event, host, venue, and market performance.
- Analyze metrics including attendance, participant balance,



customer satisfaction, match outcomes, repeat attendance, and profitability.
- Identify underperforming areas and recommend improvements.
- Develop and test new event formats using explicit hypotheses, customer feedback, and performance data.
- Work with Marketing, Member Services, and leadership to improve the overall event experience.

- Bonus: experience in events, operations, hospitality, community programming, experiential marketing, startups, or multi-location businesses.

Traditional event management experience is helpful, but not required. We care more about operational discipline, analytical thinking, ownership, and the ability to improve systems over time.

- Event Hosts are well-supported and consistently meet Flare’s standards.
- Operational errors and last-minute problems decrease.
- Reporting and administration are accurate and completed on time.
- Underperforming events, hosts, venues, and markets are identified and addressed quickly.
- New event formats are tested systematically and successful ideas are scaled.
- Customer experience and event performance improve over time.

Compensation, Hours & Structure

- This is a contractor position with a consistent full-time workload.
- Compensation of $25-$30/hr based on experience.
- Evening and weekend availability required based on event schedule.
