emergiTEL is hiring a Junior Financial Analyst for our Government Public Sector client. This is a 6-month contract and an onsite opportunity.
Role: Financial Analyst – Junior
Client: Government / Public Sector
Duration: 6 Months
Location: Bowker Building N, 6th Floor, Alberta
Work Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:15 AM–4:30 PM Alberta Time
Lunch: 1 hour
Work Arrangement: Onsite
Job Summary
The Junior Financial Analyst will apply their accounting and financial analysis skills to support full-cycle accounting, month-end processes, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis .
The successful candidate will assist with financial reporting activities, account reconciliations, variance analysis, accruals, and other accounting functions while working closely with business entities and internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare journal entries.
- Assist with month-end reporting and financial close activities.
- Perform account and bank reconciliations.
- Assist with Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) activities.
- Support business partner maintenance and capital asset maintenance.
- Perform variance analysis and investigate abnormalities.
- Review and analyze accruals and other trial balance accounts.
- Support customer collections activities.
- Analyze and interpret financial information.
- Assist with financial dashboards and internal/external reporting.
- Work with business entities to gather and disseminate information for budgeting and forecasting.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and support their implementation.
- Perform other accounting and financial analysis duties as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Accounting or finance background with experience supporting financial operations.
- Experience with journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end reporting .
- Knowledge of AP, AR, accruals, trial balance accounts, and financial reporting .
- Experience with financial analysis and variance analysis.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to analyze and interpret financial information.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder collaboration skills.
- Experience supporting budgeting and forecasting activities is an asset.
- Experience with financial dashboards/reporting is an asset.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented Junior Financial Analyst/Accounting skilled with hands-on experience in month-end accounting, journal entries, reconciliations, AP/AR, accruals, variance analysis, and financial reporting . Experience working with government or public-sector organizations would be an asset.
