- We are seeking an experienced Structural Engineering Group Leader to join a growing Buildings team in Barrie.
- This is a leadership opportunity for a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with a strong consulting engineering background and extensive experience in structural design, project management, team leadership, and business development.
- The successful candidate will lead a team of structural engineers, project managers, and technical staff while overseeing a diverse portfolio of building projects, including new construction, renovations, additions, structural assessments, repairs, building envelope repairs, and municipal structures.
- This role is primarily office-based in Barrie, with a minimum of 4 days per week in the office.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, train, and support structural engineering staff.
- Oversee structural projects from concept through completion, ensuring quality, schedule, and budget requirements are met.
- Provide technical leadership, design guidance, and quality-control reviews.
- Manage project budgets, schedules, staff utilization, workload allocation, and profitability.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships and identify new business opportunities.
- Lead proposals, business development initiatives, and marketing activities.
- Develop quarterly business plans, group objectives, and performance targets.
- Coordinate with other engineering groups and internal teams to support project delivery and resource sharing.
- Conduct structural engineering design, analysis, assessments, and technical reviews.
- Support staff development, performance management, and professional growth.
- Ensure compliance with applicable safety requirements, legislation, codes, and industry standards.

- Experience with wood, timber, steel, concrete, and masonry structures is required.
Qualifications
- P.Eng. designation in Ontario and registration with PEO.
- Minimum 10 years of structural engineering experience, preferably within a consulting engineering environment.
- Strong technical leadership and team management experience.
- Extensive experience designing, analyzing, and assessing commercial, institutional, industrial, residential, and municipal buildings.
- Strong knowledge of the Ontario Building Code, including Parts 4 and 9.
- Experience managing engineering projects of varying sizes and complexity.
- Demonstrated project management and business development experience.
- Experience managing and mentoring technical staff.
- Robust understanding of project budgets, schedules, utilization, and profitability.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong knowledge of structural engineering design and analysis software.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of applicable legislation, guidelines, codes, and engineering standards.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
