Department of Social Supports and Well-Being Reporting to the Client Services Manager, the Social Worker I will work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team assisting clients with complex needs. Specifically, this position interviews clients to assess needs; provides counselling support; assists clients in navigating complex support services and systems; works collaboratively with Client Services Officers, Career Development Specialists and community stakeholders; accepts referrals from government agencies and community partners; and provides assistance and information pertaining to procedures to pursue child support. Screening Criteria
Completion of a Bachelor of Social Work degree Clinical social work experience Experience completing Bio/Psycho/Social assessments to determine client needs Experience providing general counselling and referral services Experience coordinating services between agencies (asset)
Assessment Criteria
Knowledge of professional social work practices and standards Knowledge of Income Support programs (asset) Counselling skills Ability to effectively exchange information Ability to work in a team Ability to work independently Ability to manage stress Client service orientation Conditions of Offer
Recent and satisfactory Certificate of Conduct from local police Recent and satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Query Registration as a qualified social worker with the Newfoundland and Labrador College of Social Workers (NLCSW) Conditions of Acceptance
Acknowledge requirement for day travel (occasional) Acknowledge requirement for access to transportation or use of a personal vehicle
