This unique PhD position is available for home students, offering a tax-free stipend set at £21,805 for 2026/27 with tuition paid and increases expected annually. The project will investigate key nutrient transport mechanisms in this successful pathogen, contributing to vital advancements in therapeutic strategies against tuberculosis, which remains a leading global health threat.
Key Responsibilities:
• Execute research on nutrient utilization by Mycobacterium tuberculosis • Conduct experiments using microbiological and analytical methods • Evaluate biochemical pathways affecting pathogen biology • Collaborate across disciplines in a supportive research setting • Generate data for scholarly publication
Requirements: • At least a 2.1 UK honours degree • Preferred Master’s degree in relevant discipline • Robust passion for microbiology and biochemistry • Prior research experience in analytical techniques is a plus • Enthusiasm for addressing infectious diseases
