The Lead Restoration Technician is a hands-on working leader responsible for helping coordinate and complete emergency mitigation and restoration services involving water, fire, smoke, mould, biohazard, contents, and other forms of property damage.

The Lead Technician provides direction and support to technicians and general labourers while working alongside the crew. This position helps ensure that projects are completed safely, efficiently, professionally, and in accordance with company procedures, applicable regulations, and recognized industry standards.

The successful candidate must demonstrate leadership, reliability, sound judgment, quality workmanship, and professional communication with customers, coworkers, subcontractors, adjusters, and other project stakeholders.

PuroClean operates as a collaborative team. Although each employee has primary responsibilities, all team members are expected to assist one another and perform duties outside their usual roles when reasonably required to meet customer, project, safety, or operational needs.

Duties and Responsibilities Job duties include, but are not limited to:

Responding to residential and commercial property-damage emergencies

Leading and participating in water extraction, structural drying, demolition, cleaning, deodorization, mould remediation, fire and smoke restoration, contents handling, and other restoration activities

Reviewing the assigned scope of work with the Project Manager and helping organize the crew, equipment, materials, and site activities

Providing transparent daily direction to technicians and labourers

Working alongside the crew and assisting with all aspects of the project as required

Ensuring work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company procedures and applicable industry standards

Conducting initial and ongoing site inspections as assigned

Identifying visible damage, safety concerns, possible hazards, and changes in the project scope

Taking and recording moisture readings and monitoring drying progress

Setting up, monitoring, maintaining, and removing drying, air-filtration, extraction, and other restoration equipment





Completing selective demolition and removal of damaged building materials

Protecting unaffected areas and customers’ belongings from further damage

Taking clear photographs and maintaining accurate job documentation

Completing daily work records, equipment logs, moisture documentation, notes, authorizations, and other required paperwork

Promptly reporting unexpected conditions, additional damage, scope changes, delays, customer concerns, or safety issues to management

Communicating professionally and respectfully with property owners, occupants, adjusters, subcontractors, and other stakeholders

Explaining the work being performed without making unauthorized commitments regarding insurance coverage, pricing, completion dates, or scope

Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe worksite

Ensuring company tools, equipment, vehicles, and materials are used properly and cared for

Monitoring crew performance and providing coaching, instruction, and feedback

Helping train and develop new technicians

Confirming that assigned work has been completed to company quality standards before leaving the site

Participating in after‑hours and on‑call emergency response when scheduled or required

Assisting with warehouse organization, vehicle readiness, equipment maintenance, inventory, cleaning, deliveries, and other operational requirements

Supporting other employees and departments when workload, scheduling, emergencies, or business needs require it

Performing other reasonable duties assigned by management

The Lead Restoration Technician is expected to:

Lead by example and maintain a positive, solutions‑focused attitude

Hold themselves and the crew accountable for safety, quality,



productivity, and professionalism

Escalate problems promptly rather than allowing issues to continue

Treat customers’ homes, businesses, possessions, and personal circumstances with care and respect

Protect confidential customer, employee, and company information

Promote cooperation and teamwork across the organization

Remain composed and skilled in stressful or emotionally sensitive situations

Qualifications and Experience

Previous experience in property restoration, construction, demolition, remediation, cleaning, or a related field

Previous crew‑lead or supervisory experience is preferred

Knowledge of water‑damage mitigation and structural‑drying procedures is strongly preferred

IICRC Water Restoration Technician certification is preferred

Additional IICRC or relevant health‑and‑safety certifications are considered assets

Valid driver’s licence and an acceptable driving record

Ability to communicate clearly in English, both verbally and in writing

Ability to use a smartphone, tablet, email, and job‑documentation software

Ability to read work orders, scopes, measurements, safety information, and equipment instructions

Criminal‑record check will be required because work is performed in customers’ homes and businesses

Physical and Working Requirements The position requires the ability to:

Perform physically demanding work for extended periods

Regularly lift, carry, push, or pull equipment and materials

Work while standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, and climbing

Safely use ladders, hand tools, power tools, and restoration equipment

Wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including respiratory protection when required

Work in environments that may be wet, dirty, dusty, hot, cold, odorous, confined, or affected by fire, water, mould, sewage, or other contaminants

Travel throughout Windsor‑Essex County and, occasionally, outside the regular service area

Work occasional evenings, weekends, holidays, or extended hours in response to emergencies or project requirements
