About the Role

The Company is seeking a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to provide strategic leadership and carry forward its mission of transformative change in the legal system. The CEO will be responsible for developing and implementing short and long-term strategic plans, ensuring the organization's alignment with Indigenous governance, and fostering respectful relationships with First Nation communities, partners, funders, and governments. This role demands a leader with a solid commitment to the well-being of vulnerable Indigenous peoples, a deep understanding of trauma-informed practice, and the ability to balance compassion with accountability. The successful candidate will work closely with the Chief Operating Officer to manage internal operations and will be the senior ambassador and advocate for the organization.





Key functions of the CEO include financial oversight, resource allocation, executive oversight, and governance. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated knowledge of BC First Nations governance structures, senior executive leadership experience, and a working knowledge of Canada's criminal justice system. A legal background in criminal defense and/or child protection, or equivalent experience in delivering Indigenous-led legal services, is preferred. The CEO must have a high level of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability, and the ability to lead the organization through complex change. Strong political acumen and the ability to champion Indigenous self-determination are essential. A verifiable Indigenous identity, with a preference for BC First Nations identity, is required, along with a proven track record of building and sustaining respectful relationships with Indigenous communities and partners.
