Job Summary:

The AV Technical Consultant / Audio Visual Systems Designer will lead the assessment, design, and documentation of a comprehensive AV solution for the modernization of the CFHSTC Simulation Room at CFB Borden. This role involves onsite evaluations, development of detailed technical packages, and creation of procurement-ready deliverables to support installation, commissioning, maintenance, and decommissioning of AV systems in a military training environment.

Responsibilities:

- Conduct onsite inspections and gather AV system requirements from stakeholders.
- Perform site surveys including room dimensions, power, network infrastructure, and existing AV equipment.
- Develop conceptual and detailed AV system designs covering displays, projectors, audio systems, microphones, speakers, DSPs, control systems, switching equipment, and cabling.
- Create installation drawings, signal-flow and circuit diagrams, connectivity maps, and rack layouts.
- Prepare comprehensive Statements of Work (SOWs) and technical specifications.
- Compile equipment inventories and bills of materials with detailed technical descriptions and availability verification.
- Develop maintenance plans including preventive and corrective procedures, warranty management, and a five-year support framework.
- Formulate decommissioning strategies addressing equipment removal, disposal, recycling, and environmental compliance.
- Deliver final documentation in editable electronic formats suitable for contractor use.
- Ensure all designs and documentation comply with accessibility, electrical safety, fire code, and environmental regulations.





Required Skills & Certifications:

- Minimum 5 years of experience in AV system design and consulting.
- Proven experience developing Statements of Work (SOWs) and Bills of Material (BOMs).
- Proficient in creating AV signal flow and circuit diagrams.
- Solid skills with Microsoft Visio, Word, and Excel.
- In-depth knowledge of AV system architecture including audio, video distribution, control systems, and accessibility requirements.
- Familiarity with electrical and safety standards relevant to AV installations.
- Excellent documentation and communication skills.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

- AVIXA CTS or CTS-D certification.
- Experience supporting military, government, or educational facilities.
- Expertise in designing simulation or training environments.
- Knowledge of Crestron, Extron, Q-SYS, Shure, Biamp, and DSP technologies.

Special Considerations:

- Work onsite at CFB Borden, Ontario, requiring coordination with Department of National Defence stakeholders.
- Compliance with strict accessibility, electrical safety, fire code, and environmental disposal regulations.
- Documentation must be comprehensive, accurate, and provided in editable electronic formats.

Scheduling:

- Contract duration through September 30, 2026.
- Project milestones include kickoff and site assessment in week 1, draft design by week 2, client review in week 3, and final submission by contract end date.
- Work schedule aligned with project deliverable deadlines; onsite presence required during assessment and design phases.
