Driver/ Maintenance Staff

This unique role combines maintenance, direct interaction with People Supported and transporting them to their Day Programs. Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager (QAM), the Driver / Maintenance Staff is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of agency homes, transporting individuals to programs and appointments, and ensuring our residential environments remain safe, functional, and welcoming. Approximately

80% of the workday

includes engaging with individuals with developmental disabilities while working in residential homes or transporting them safely in agency vehicles. Key Responsibilities

Safely transport People Supported to and from day programs, medical appointments, and community activities. Build positive, respectful, and supportive relationships with People Supported. Patch, prime and paint interior walls in common areas and bedrooms while respecting the space of People Supported and their routines. Perform routine interior and exterior building maintenance and repairs. Assemble and install furniture, shelving, fixtures, and equipment. Coordinate and schedule preventative maintenance for homes, equipment, and agency vehicles. Assist the QAM in obtaining quotes for repairs, renovations, supplies and maintenance. Ensure all tools and equipment are maintained, safely stored and operated according to safety standards. Complete maintenance documentation and reports accurately and in a timely manner. Follow all agency policies, health and safety practices and legislative requirements. Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum

three (3) years

of painting and/or maintenance-related experience. Ability to safely transport People Supported while managing potential distractions.



Ability to provide an acceptable Criminal Record Check, including a Vulnerable Sector Screening. Valid Ontario

Class G Driver's Licence

with a satisfactory driving record. Additional Skills and Knowledge

Demonstrated knowledge of building maintenance methods, repairs and preventative maintenance. Experience with general carpentry, flooring, drywall and minor repairs. Working knowledge of basic electrical and plumbing practices and applicable provincial codes. Experience using hand and power tools safely and effectively. What We're Looking For

This position is based in residential homes and requires frequent travel throughout the community. The role involves: Standing and walking for extended periods. Frequent bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, climbing 4’ ladders and other physical activities. Working in active residential environments with varying levels of noise and distractions.
