Location: Edmonton or Calgary. This role is eligible for hybrid – this means you’ll have the flexibility of working from home and in the office (in Edmonton or Calgary), on a scheduled rotation once training requirements have been met. Until then, the successful incumbent will be expected to work on‑site, full‑time. Division – Claims (Alberta) Pay Range: $65,456 - $88,351 Closes: September 1, 2026. Work should be so much more than just a job you do to earn a paycheque. And at SGI Canada, it is.
We offer the essentials – a competitive salary, great pension, and excellent employer-paid family benefits. But we also provide opportunities. The opportunity to do work that makes a difference in your community. The opportunity to expand your professional skills and grow your career. And the opportunity to come to work every day to a job you’re passionate about and that leaves you feeling happy and fulfilled.
Now that we’ve (hopefully!) sparked your interest, here’s some good news: we’re hiring! We are looking for an Intermediate Adjuster (Bodily Injury) to join our team in Edmonton or Calgary.
It’s an exciting time to join our Bodily Injury Team.
Alberta’s automobile insurance system is evolving, and our Claims operation is evolving with it.
Our Bodily Injury team will continue to manage and resolve existing bodily injury claims through their lifecycle, while claims involving injury and liability exposures will remain part of Alberta’s automobile insurance landscape under the new model. That means we’re looking for experienced claims professionals who can bring robust technical judgment, sound decision-making and a resolution-focused approach to a changing workplace.
In this role, you’ll manage bodily injury claims of varying complexity from investigation through resolution. You’ll assess liability and damages, evaluate medical and other supporting information, establish appropriate reserves, negotiate settlements and work with claimants, legal counsel and other professionals to achieve fair and timely outcomes.
You’ll also be joining a team preparing for the future of claims in Alberta. If you enjoy complex problem-solving, negotiation and technical claims work — and want the opportunity to develop your expertise while being part of an evolving claims environment — this may be the opportunity for you.
We hope you consider applying if you:
Have experience reviewing medical documentation, researching and interpreting case law, and applying findings to support sound decision-making.
Are adaptable and willing to adjust to changing business needs, priorities, and circumstances.
Possess strong negotiation and communication skills, both verbal and written, and can effectively communicate with a variety of stakeholders.
Have experience participating in mediations or other dispute resolution processes.
Are proficient in both independent and collaborative work.
Exercise strong judgment and critical thinking when managing complex and sensitive matters.
Are organized, can manage multiple changing priorities, and take accountability and ownership of your case files.
Want to leverage your leadership skills for good, like actively supporting SGI’s culture, expanding your own learning, and supporting your colleagues as they do the same.
Typically, these skills are gained through a
two-year diploma
from an accredited post-secondary education institution in a relevant field of study such as Business, and
three to five
years’ experience
adjudicating claims of varying complexity including work with commercial losses.
