Terminal City Glass Co-op (TCGC) is a member-driven cooperative arts organization dedicated to supporting glass artists through education, studio access, community programming, and creative collaboration. We are seeking a skilled, community-minded Managing Director to lead the organization’s operations, financial management, strategic growth, and day-to-day administration.

The Managing Director (MD) is responsible for the overall leadership, financial health, operational effectiveness, and strategic advancement of Terminal City Glass Co-op. Acting under the authority of the Board of Directors, the MD translates strategic direction into clear operational systems, actionable plans, and accountable leadership across all areas of the organization. The MD supports members by ensuring that business operations, studio activity, programs, and external relationships are aligned, financially sustainable, and supportive of TCGC’s cooperative values and community role.

Responsibilities:

- Oversee bookkeeping, payroll, invoicing, accounts payable/receivable, reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Ensure compliance with CRA, provincial, and federal requirements
- Coordinate year-end financial reporting and work with accountants and auditors
- Monitor and manage revenue streams, pricing, and financial controls
- Oversee grant budgets, reporting, and compliance requirements
- Support fundraising and donation development activities
- Budgeting & Strategic Planning
- Lead annual budgeting and financial forecasting
- Present monthly financial reports to the Board




- Support long-term organizational sustainability and infrastructure planning
- Advise the Board on financial risks and growth opportunities
- Program & Operations Oversight
- Oversee organizational programming, scheduling, and special events
- Support visiting artist programming and administrative coordination
- Ensure operational systems, inventory, infrastructure, and digital systems function effectively
- Ensure compliance with safety, legal, and cooperative requirements
- Leadership & Team Coordination
- Facilitate staff communication and operational coordination
- Support clear organizational roles, workflows, and accountabilityWork collaboratively with committees, volunteers, instructors, and contractors
- Help guide implementation of TCGC’s strategic and operational plans
- Marketing & Community Engagement
- Oversee communications, website direction, and marketing initiatives
- Support social media and public-facing communications
- Ensure strong customer service and community engagement practices
- Maintain relationships within the arts and glass communities
- Governance & External Relations
- Support grant writing and partnership development




- Provide operational insight and reporting to the Board
- Assist with risk management, insurance, permits, and governance continuity

Qualifications:

- We recognize that candidates may bring diverse professional and lived experiences. Applicants do not need to meet every qualification to apply.
- Preferred qualifications include:
- Experience in nonprofit, cooperative, arts, or community-based administration
- Strong financial management and bookkeeping experience
- Organizational leadership and operations management skills
- Experience with budgeting, grant management, and reporting Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities collaboratively and independently
- Experience working with boards, committees, and community stakeholders
- Familiarity with Google Workspace, digital systems, and administrative software
- Experience in arts organizations, maker spaces, studios, or cooperative environments is considered an asset.

TCGC offers an annual salary of 60,000 - 70,000 dependent on experience. Based on a 35 hours work week, with exception to special events and projects. Annual medical allowance in place of perks. Two weeks vacation to start in first ear of employment.

The BC Alliance for Arts + Culture is honoured to work on the traditional, unceded territories of the Coast Salish peoples of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations, and 240 other Indigenous communities across BC.
