About Us The Department of Public Works is responsible for building and maintaining provincial infrastructure across Nova Scotia; we are currently recruiting for an Area Manager to lead our District Highway Operations in Antigonish County.

Public Works manages 23,000 kilometers of roads and highways, 4,100 bridges, 9 provincial ferries, and 2,400 buildings and infrastructure assets. Our District Highway Operations Division plays a critical role in managing various programs, functions and activities throughout our province, including snow and ice control services, road maintenance and repair services and approval of various permits.

About Our Opportunity Reporting to the District Director, the Area Manager is directly involved in creating and designing new programs to meet the demands of our growing infrastructure and ever-changing work environment. Area Managers are pivotal in helping achieve Department objectives for highway maintenance, snow and ice control, and infrastructure expansion projects.





Primary Accountabilities Through the effective leadership of staff and coordination of technical and equipment resources, the Area Manager provides opportunities for secure traffic movement and economic development across the Province.
