List of Requirements Qualifications
Valid Class 5 driver’s licence
The use of a safe, well-maintained personal vehicle with appropriate insurance
Completion of Grade 10
Minimum of three months of recent related experience
Requirements for Hiring and Ongoing Employment
Satisfactory Criminal Record Check (to be renewed every 5 years)
A valid WorkSafeBC-approved first aid certificate (to be renewed every 3 years)
Valid Class 5 driver’s licence
The use of a safe, well-maintained personal vehicle with appropriate insurance
Satisfactory ICBC driver’s abstract (personal driving record)
Required Abilities
Solid interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to establish respectful relationships with older adults while maintaining professional boundaries.
Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment and respond appropriately to participant concerns.
Ability to organize work and complete approved tasks within scheduled service times.
Knowledge of safe cleaning practices, products, chemicals and equipment.
Ability to recognize and report safety, wellness and maintenance concerns.
Ability to complete basic electronic documentation and use email, telephone,
text messaging and word-processing tools.
Ability to work cooperatively with colleagues and participate in required meetings and training.
List of Duties Key Duties and Responsibilities
Creates a warm and friendly atmosphere in participants’ homes.
Provides social connection and supportive listening while maintaining professional boundaries.
Performs approved housekeeping tasks in participants’ homes, including dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, cleaning and disinfecting kitchens and washrooms, wiping appliances and surfaces.
Maintains awareness of participant safety and well-being and reports concerns appropriately.
Refers participants to other inclusion Powell River seniors’ services, as appropriate.
Launders participant clothing only when the service has been requested and approved by the manager.
Completes required documentation, including contact notes for exceptional circumstances, incident reports, task records and kilometers tracking.
Checks work-related email, texts and voicemail regularly. Ensures required cleaning supplies are adequately stocked, and that equipment is safe and in good working condition.
Permanent-Part-Time Position
This position is open to all applicants.
This position requires union membership.
Portability is available for Unionized employees from similar organizations.
