Become a Cultural Guardianship Social Worker with Xyólheméylh in Abbotsford, BC, focusing on Indigenous children's welfare. This full time position is centered around cultural integrity and family unity.
As a Guardianship Social Worker, you will play a critical role in protecting and supporting Indigenous youth in care. Your work will include creating trusting relationships with the children, families, and communities you serve while providing culturally appropriate services. You will work within a framework that honors Indigenous practices and the opinions of all stakeholders involved in the care process.
Key Responsibilities:
• Serve as legal guardian for Indigenous children and youth • Promote family reintegration and community ties • Provide culturally relevant services and care • Collaborate with families, caregivers, and Elders • Follow BC Child Protection and AOPSI guidelines
Requirements: • Degree in Social Work, Child and Youth Care, or Social Sciences • Minimum 3 years human services experience • Eligible for C6 delegation in BC • Strong knowledge of Indigenous cultures and cross-cultural issues • Proficient in communication and report writing skills
