Overview: The Production Planning Supervisor is responsible for coordinating and supervising production control activities to ensure the effective execution of the production plan, material availability, and smooth operational flow. The role works closely with program teams, manufacturing, and cross-functional partners (procurement, logistics, engineering, and quality), with a strong focus on problem-solving and continuous improvement.

What you will be doing:

People Management

Coach, engage, and develop the production control team through coaching, training, and mentoring of less experienced employees.

Assign and balance workloads based on priorities, skills, and team capacity; adjust assignments to address unplanned events or absences.

Monitor team performance through key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement corrective actions when deviations occur.

Foster a collaborative and respectful work workplace while promoting company values and health and safety expectations.

Actively participate in the recruitment process and performance evaluations, ensuring objectives and expectations are clearly defined and communicated.

Production Control Management

Lead daily production control activities to support execution of the production plan and decision-making on the shop floor.

Promote a strong on-time delivery (OTD) culture across all program milestones through appropriate monitoring and control mechanisms.

Identify idle situations and provide the analysis required to support priority-setting and trade-off decisions.

Quickly identify and highlight execution constraints (e.g., missing kits, unavailable parts, material blockers) and trigger actions with the appropriate stakeholders.

Ensure data accuracy and integrity for statuses (progress, priorities, exceptions) in tracking tools (ERP systems, dashboards, and reports)

to maintain reliable operational alignment.

Follow-up and Coordination

Participate in team meetings and operational routines (e.g., DMM meetings) and ensure tracking of action items and commitments.

Clearly communicate progress, identified issues, and required decisions to relevant stakeholders.

Represent the team with internal customers and act as a liaison with management for special situations.

Identify, document, and report non-conformities or deviations impacting execution (e.g., process anomalies, data issues, material discrepancies).

Process Development and Continuous Improvement

Actively contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at improving quality, productivity, and efficiency within production control activities.

Propose, document, and deploy process improvements, including standardization, reduction of inefficiencies, role clarification, and improved communication practices.

Ensure adherence to procedures and standard work methods, and support updates to standards when required.

Participate in structured problem-solving activities (root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions) and in the development of relevant performance indicators.

What you must have:

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field.

3 to 5 years of experience in a supervisory or coordination role within a manufacturing, planning, or production control workplace.

5 to 7 years of experience within a production planning and control organization.

Strong knowledge of production management principles, production planning, and production control.

Strong data analysis, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

Excellent communication, leadership, and people management skills.

Knowledge of production management tools and systems, such as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), and supply chain management tools.

Bilingual French and English (Transact with suppliers outside Quebec).

Salary/Rate Range: $90,000 -$105,000
