ABOUT US At Designer’s Choice, we do it all — residential, commercial, apartment buildings, and custom homes. We build and install blinds, shutters, and custom draperies in just about every colour, fabric, and style there is. If it has to do with windows, we have something to say about it.
We’ve grown by being the people who actually get it right: measured properly, sewn properly, installed properly, on the date we promised. That standard is the job, and it starts in the workroom.
THE ROLE The Workroom Manager runs day-to-day manufacturing in our workroom and oversees the warehouse behind it. You own the production schedule, lead the team on the floor, and make sure every project ships complete and on time. You’ll also lead the push to modernize how the workroom runs — tightening process and bringing new software into the shop so we can scale without losing quality.
This is a hands-on leadership role with real latitude. If you like taking an operation that already works and making it work considerably better, this is that job.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Own the production schedule for the workroom and hit committed install dates on 100% of projects
Lead, coach, and schedule a production team of 8, including hiring and performance conversations
Oversee warehouse and inventory operations — stock accuracy, staging, and reorder points — working through the team who handle them day to day
Find and implement efficiencies in how work moves through the shop, and measure the result
Lead the rollout of Zoho One across the workroom, including team training
Solve the one-off problems no two projects share, working directly with our design and sales teams
Hold the quality bar before anything leaves the building, and manage rework down
Perform occasional site visits to scope, troubleshoot, or support installs
WHAT YOU’LL BRING Required
3+ years managing production in window coverings, soft goods, upholstery, or similar custom manufacturing
Experience overseeing warehouse and inventory operations
A track record of coaching a team to hit performance targets
Strong computer skills — comfortable learning and rolling out new systems, not just using them
Valid driver’s licence and a reliable vehicle for occasional site visits
Nice to have
Sewing or drapery fabrication experience
Experience with motorized or smart window coverings
Post-secondary education in operations, manufacturing, or a skilled trade
YOU’LL THRIVE HERE IF YOU’RE Detail-driven.
In custom work, a quarter inch is the whole job. Nothing gets past you — big or small.
Self-directed.
You don’t need to be told what needs doing. You see the bottleneck and go fix it.
Steady with people.
You’re as valuable with a sewer on your team as you are with a designer, a builder, or a homeowner.
Improvement-minded.
A process that’s “fine” bothers you a little. You’d rather rebuild it than work around it.
WHAT WE OFFER A small shop with a benefits package that holds up against much larger employers:
Health benefits: Health, dental, long-term disability, a Health Spending Account, and more.
Time off: 2 weeks paid vacation, plus paid time between Christmas and New Year’s.
Perks: Employee discounts, early Friday finish in the summer (paid), and a vehicle mileage allowance.
Compensation: $55,000–$65,000 annually, based on experience.
Schedule: Full-time, Monday–Friday, with a flexible start time.
Training: If there’s something in custom window coverings you haven’t done, we’ll teach you. We hire for judgment and train the rest.
A family business, run like one. Seasonal perks, flexible hours when life happens, and a team that actually knows each other. We’re growing every year, and there’s a path here for someone who makes real contributions.
