Part-Time After-School CaregiverLocation: Bedford, Nova ScotiaSchedule: Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, 2:00 pm – 5:30 pm from September 1stStart Date: As soon as a suitable candidate is foundWe are a calm and organized family seeking a reliable and experienced caregiver to support our two boys, aged 11 and 10, in our home after school.This is a structured, hands-on role requiring attentiveness, maturity, and confidence with physical care and supervision.Role OverviewOlder child (11):Meet the school bus outside the apartment building and escort him safely insideAssist with safe transfers and repositioning after schoolSupport with feeding, including oral and PEG feedingProvide personal and continence careMonitor comfort and respond appropriately to fatigue or distressMaintain a calm and secure environmentYounger child (10):Supervision and structured check-ins after schoolPrepare snack or light meal if neededSupport homework completionProvide calm presence while he engages in independent activitiesGeneral Responsibilities:Maintain a safe and settled after-school routineLight housekeeping related to the childrenPrepare simple snacks or meals as neededAfternoons are generally calm once routines are established.RequirementsExperience supporting children with additional or complex needsComfortable with hands-on personal care, PEG feeding, and transfersPhysically able to perform manual handling safelyValid CPR and First Aid certificationCurrent Vulnerable Sector Check and Child Abuse Registry Check (or willingness to obtain prior to start)Professional referencesNon-smokerA hoist is available in the home.
