Department: Complex Continuing Care- Cedar Lodge
QUALIFICATIONS Certification/Experience/Knowledge:
Current Certificate of Registration ~ College of Nurses of Ontario required
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certificate required
Dementia care, pharmacotherapy, falls/mobility, osteoporosis, delirium training required
Medical clinical experience in an acute care setting required
Certified in Medication Administration required with recent related experience required
Experience with catheterization
Experience with Capillary Blood Glucose (CBG)
Basic computer knowledge required
PIECES and Gentle Persuasive Approach (GPA) Certificate an asset
Skills/Abilities:
Excellent level of interpersonal skills required
Excellent level of written and verbal communication skills required
Ability to effectively provide health teaching to individuals and groups required
Ability to work as a collaborative member of the health team required
Ability to assume responsibility for patient care in a total patient care climate required
Ability to work with minimal supervision required
Ability to meet the physical demands required to provide nursing care to medical patients required
Demonstrated ability to engage in meaningful patient activity an asset
Demonstrated ability in adaptable care and patient centred approaches is an asset
De-escalation techniques required
Critical thinking, problem solving,
ability to delegate, multi task an asset
Must demonstrate commitment to ensure your safety, the safety of fellow workers, patients, volunteers, and visitors
Must support and contribute to a culture of safety and prevention of adverse health events in this organization
Good attendance and work record required
Bilingualism (Advanced level English/French) is an asset. All unilingual candidates are encouraged to apply and may be considered if the identified French requirement has been met or there are no successful bilingual candidates. A formal French test will be conducted to evaluate the proficiency level.
