Senior Mechanical Designer Type: In-Office, Full-Time Location: Edmonton, AB About Our Client

Key Responsibilities
As the Senior Mechanical Designer, you will be responsible for developing mechanical systems for a wide variety of building projects, taking designs from concept through completion while ensuring technical quality, code compliance, and client requirements are met. Mechanical Design & Engineering Design
Mechanical building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems, for a variety of projects. Develop practical and efficient mechanical design solutions based on project requirements, building conditions, and client objectives. Perform design calculations as required, including heat loss, heat gain, flow calculations, and other mechanical engineering calculations. Prepare detailed mechanical drawings and documentation using AutoCAD. Become proficient in and consistently apply the company's design and drawing standards to ensure consistency and quality across project deliverables. Ensure mechanical designs comply with applicable codes, regulations, standards, and project requirements. Project Delivery & Quality
Manage assigned design responsibilities to ensure projects are completed within established schedules, budgets, and quality standards. Review designs and drawings carefully to identify potential issues and ensure accurate, complete deliverables. Work independently to manage assigned tasks while also collaborating effectively with engineers, designers, architects, contractors, and other project stakeholders. Apply sound technical judgment and proactively identify solutions to design and project challenges. Maintain a high standard of technical accuracy and attention to detail throughout the design process. Qualifications
Relevant post-secondary education in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Design, or a related discipline is preferred. Demonstrated experience designing mechanical systems for building-related projects. Strong experience with HVAC and piping system design. Experience working on projects from initial concept through design, construction, and completion is highly valued. Previous experience mentoring or supporting junior designers is an asset. Technical Skills
Proficiency in AutoCAD is required. Strong knowledge of mechanical HVAC and piping system design principles. Knowledge of ASHRAE standards and their application to building mechanical systems. Strong understanding of applicable Alberta Building Codes and other relevant codes and regulations. Ability to perform mechanical design calculations, including heat loss, heat gain, and flow calculations. Strong technical competence with a high level of attention to detail.
