Position Summary Under the supervision of the Roads Supervisor, the Public Works Labourer will be expected to perform labourer tasks as well as operate machinery as assigned.

Duties

Perform labourer work as assigned.

Train on and operate various types of light and heavy-duty equipment as assigned.

Ability to work shift work; nights, afternoons and weekends, including 12, 10, and 8-hour shifts.

Qualifications

Applicants must possess at minimum a valid class G Ontario Driver’s License and be able to obtain their Class DZ within four months of hire.

Grade 12 education or equivalency.

Demonstrated skills, knowledge and ability to operate multiple pieces of industry related equipment.





Experience working with concrete and/or asphalt and in construction will be considered an asset.

Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

Good knowledge of the names and locations of City streets.

Physical ability to perform medium to heavy category work.

Clear Driver’s Abstract required.
