Catholic Social Services is currently seeking a full time 40 hours per week, Senior Financial Analyst in EDMONTON to join our Finance department. Providing excellent client-centered care, you are confident, thoughtful, and motivated to achieve success when supporting others in your community!
Job Summary:
Reporting to the Controller, t he Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for the finance function in one or more of our service areas. The role includes assisting Management with negotiating funding agreements; cost allocat ions among programs; preparing and monitoring of budgets; monitoring, testing , and strengthening of internal controls; prepar ing monthly financial statements; contractual financial reporting; liaising with internal and external auditors; analy zing current systems/processes and recommending improvements; and mentoring service area staff on financial matters .

- Establishes andmaintainsrespectful, collaborative working relationships with employees and external stakeholders, as applicable
- Prepares internal/external financial reporting on the status of contracts
- Coordinates the preparation andmaintainingof disbursements and financial reporting for funding agreements
- Interprets contract provisions and responds to inquiriesregardingcontractual obligations
- Analyzes, problem solves, and recommends solutions to contract related issues
- Assists/participatesin contract negotiations with government and other funders
- Provides support in the development of Agency business proposals
- Assistsin development of monthly forecasts, annual budgets, and strategic plans
- Managesreceipt and initiation of stakeholder concerns by resolving/diffusing issuesin a timely manner
- Developseffective strategies and processes to ensureappropriate allocationof funding to multiple programs
- Participates in financial planning activities and annual audits
- Liaiseswith multiple levels ofinternal/external stakeholders
- Maintainsa wide variety of accounting information, files,and records in written and electronic formats for the purpose of providing an up-to-date reference and audit trail for compliance
- Identifiesgaps in processes,
practices,and guidelines anddevelops/recommends improvements and best practices
- Identifiesrisks and issues, suggesting alternatives that lead to the best solution
- Contributes to implementation of policies, procedures, and internal controls; ensuring policies and procedures are documented and communicated appropriately
General
- Ensuresappropriateand confidential handling and storage of client/Agency information and documentation in accordancetoAgency policies, procedures, and standards
- Initiates ongoing process improvements within;assistswith the implementation of approved proposals, processes, procedures, and reports as assigned
- Assistsin training and supporting new employees and colleagues with AP and AR procedures and processes
- Reports incidents to manager or designatein a timely manner
- Follows health and safety protocols while adhering to Agency policies and procedures
- Maintains a pleasant and safe work environment, ensuringhigh levelsof cleanliness, comfort, and safety
- Completes andsubmitsregular and ad hoc reports and documentation as per standard procedures on or before assigned due dates
- Attends and activelyparticipatesin scheduled meetings. Supports team initiatives and helps toidentifyproblems and suggest solutions
- Performs other related duties asrequired
What This Job Requires:
- Minimum of aBachelor’s Degreein Accounting/Business Administrationor equivalentfrom a recognizededucational institution
- Having a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation is an asset
- Additionalrelevant certifications or designationsconsidered an asset
