Job Summary The Facilities Technician is responsible for the implementation and adherence of best practices around facility maintenance at our various sites and is a full-time position. This role is responsible for conducting and coordinating routine and non-routine maintenance activities for all Phoenix facilities, provides oversight to safety and efficiently performs work activities. It handles various areas of business repair and aids in the implementation of maintenance procedures.
Facilities Maintenance
Promotes and maintains a welcoming environment for residents, guests and staff, maintaining a positive demeanor when interacting with others
Ensures that Phoenix Society’s facilities are maintained to a high standard of care, ensuring we meet licensing and safety standards
Provides overall maintenance repairs and project coordination to ensure that work is planned and executed safely and efficiently
Works with the supervisor and management teams to document and align processes for outside services
Liaises with contractors for site work that is beyond the scope of the Phoenix maintenance team
Oversees the development of maintenance procedures. Makes recommendations for the development of new and/or modifications to existing procedures
Performs on-site work scoping and estimating for routine and non-routine maintenance activities
Assists in implementing improvements to facility performance and equipment maintenance strategies
Assists in turnaround planning and scheduling as required
Acts as the on-site management representative and liaison when the management team is off site
Responds to maintenance and repair requests, emergency or otherwise
Proactively inspects grounds, facilities, and equipment to determine if repairs or preventive maintenance is required
Responds to and plans for completion of maintenance tasks, as requested by their managers
Detects, identifies and repairs building deficiencies, in coordination with management
Completes safety checks and conducts routine maintenance on systems and equipment, including maintaining records of this work
Performs general maintenance tasks for the buildings, such as painting, power washing, major clean ups, event setup/take down
Assists with administrative tasks including, but not limited to, maintaining inventory systems, filing, records keeping, and purchasing system
Other duties that may be assigned
Qualifications
Successful completion of 1-2 year post-secondary education in a Facilities Technician program
Driver’s License: Class 5 license accompanied by suitable drivers abstract
First Aid Certification with CPR is required
3+ years of experience in a similar role
Satisfactory completion of a criminal records check with vulnerable sector screening is required
Satisfactory completion of Tuberculosis Screening form is required
Satisfactory completion of Nonviolent crisis intervention (NVCI)
Skills & Knowledge
English: fluent and able to effectively communicate professionally, both orally and written
Demonstrated experience in facilities operations and maintenance
Ability to do work inside and outdoors, and significant physical activity, including heavy lifting, climbing ladders and stairs, and standing for extended periods of time
Computer: proficient in MS Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet and databases
Superior time management, organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task
Ability to successfully collaborate with diverse personalities and communicate professionally and respectfully with all levels of the organization
High energy level, positive attitude, willingness to learn and grow
