About the Role:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Financial Analyst to join our growing Finance team. In this hands-on role, you will support the day-to-day accounting and financial operations of L Squared, including month-end close, bookkeeping, accounts payable and receivable, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and audit support.
You will work closely with the Finance team to maintain accurate financial records, prepare and support monthly reporting, investigate discrepancies, and ensure key accounting processes are completed accurately and on time. The role will also provide exposure to budgeting, SaaS financial metrics, process improvements, and financial systems, making it a great opportunity for someone looking to continue developing their accounting and financial analysis experience in a growing SaaS environment.
Responsibilities
- Support the month-end and year-end close processes, including preparing journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in QuickBooks Online.
- Perform bank, credit card,
and general ledger reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
- Assist with the preparation of monthly P&L;, balance sheet, and cash flow reports.
- Support intercompany transactions and reconciliations.
- Assist with GST/HST calculations, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
- Maintain organized financial records and supporting documentation for reporting and audit purposes.
Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable
- Process vendor invoices and ensure appropriate coding, approvals, and supporting documentation.
- Reconcile supplier invoices against purchase orders and resolve discrepancies.
- Prepare and process vendor payments in accordance with payment schedules.
- Maintain vendor accounts and respond to invoice and payment inquiries.
- Prepare customer invoices and maintain accurate accounts receivable records.
- Monitor outstanding receivables and follow up on overdue customer balances.
- Reconcile customer accounts and investigate payment discrepancies.
- Assist with AR aging and AP aging reporting.
- Assist with monthly financial reporting and preparation of P&L;, cash flow, and budget reports.
- Support the connection and maintenance of QuickBooks and Fathom and validate financial data.
- Assist with budget-to-actual and month-over-month variance analysis.
- Support reporting on revenue, COGS, gross profit, and other key financial metrics.
- Maintain financial trackers and recurring reports used by the Finance team.
- Assist with SaaS reporting, including MRR, ARR, churn, CAC, LTV, and burn rate.
- Identify unusual transactions or variances and elevate findings to the Finance Lead or VP of Finance.
Audit, Compliance & Process Support
- Support internal and external audit activities by gathering documentation and preparing requested schedules.
- Assist with Vendor Expense Audits, Internal Receipt Audits, and Gross Profit Audits.
- Maintain and update finance SOPs and process documentation.
- Assist with quarterly audit cycles and follow up on outstanding documentation or discrepancies.
- Review expense receipts and supporting documentation for accuracy and compliance.
- Support renewal audits by verifying contract pricing and terms and flagging discrepancies.
Revenue & Finance Operations
- Maintain subscription and recurring revenue trackers.
- Assist with commission calculations and supporting documentation.
- Support revenue reconciliation and renewal track and assist with CPQ and finance system data reconciliation.
- Assist with CPQ and finance system data reconciliation.
- Maintain accurate finance system records and assist with administrative finance tasks.
General Finance Support
- Assist with banking transactions and bank reconciliations.
- Maintain finance system access records and documentation.
- Respond to routine accounting and finance inquiries from internal stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities to improve or streamline recurring finance processes.
- Assist with other finance, accounting, and operational duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 2–4 years of experience in accounting, financial analysis, bookkeeping, or finance operations.
- Hands-on experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and month-end close activities.
- Experience maintaining accurate financial records and performing day-to-day bookkeeping activities.
- Proficiency with QuickBooks Online; experience with Fathom or another financial reporting tool is an asset.
- Strong understanding of basic accounting principles, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and financial statements.
- Experience preparing or supporting monthly financial reports, including P&L;, balance sheet, and cash flow reporting.
- Familiarity with SaaS financial metrics such as MRR, ARR, churn, CAC, LTV, and burn rate is an asset.
- Strong Excel / Google Sheets skills and comfort working with financial data.
- Experience with audit support, financial documentation, or internal controls is an asset.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
