The Lead Operator is responsible for supporting daily production operations to ensure alignment with customer demand and production schedules. This role provides leadership, direction, and technical support to the fabrication team while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and delivery. The Lead Operator actively participates in production by fabricating products using various tools, fixtures, and work instructions, while supporting continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to the duties outlined below:

Provide leadership and direction to the fabrication areas ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and delivery standards

Coordinate and support employee training to ensure procedures are followed and quality requirements are consistently met

Utilize problem-solving skills to maintain stable and efficient operations

Maintain daily housekeeping to ensure the facility is always tour-ready.

Identify, escalation, and help resolve issues related to quality, processes, equipment, materials, and labor with the Operations Manager

Monitor, maintain, and ensure completion of standardized work processes

Maintain an OTDR of 86%, an OTDC of 95%, and a lead time of 5-7 days.

Monitor orders that go through quality inspection to ensure all rejections are reviewed with the production team to prevent repeat issues.

Collaborate with Planning, Customer Service, Quality and Warehouse teams to align priorities and resolve issues impacting production and delivery.

Interpret technical drawings and blueprints to determine machine set-up and production methods.

Inspect finished products for quality and adherence to specifications.

Review work orders to identify belt type, raw materials, dimensions and customer-specific requirements prior to fabrication.

Ensuring all orders are cut and transferred to the following processing station in a timely manner

Communicate work orders and service plans to Belting Technicians aligned with customer quotes, monitors Technician productivity and service quality

Perform general belt fabrication when support is needed

Safely operate professional knives, handheld tools, CNC equipment and other fabrication machinery.

Identify unusual or uncommon fabrication instructions and clarify with customer, planner, operations manager, or sales representative





Promote knowledge sharing and cross-training within the team

Any other duties as assigned by the Operations Supervisor/Manager.

Maintenance:

Install, troubleshoot, and repair equipment with minimum supervision

Assist the manager to implement predictive maintenance for the belt shop machines

Perform tasks of routine maintenance & repairs

Troubleshoot mechanical problems, work on electrical problems

Report to the manager, the need to purchase parts of any missing equipment

Knowledge and Skills Requirements:

Prior experience as industrial machine operator, CNC, Belt Fabrication, is required

High school Diploma, GED, Technical/Trade School or equivalent experience

Demonstrated ability to lead by example and maintain high standards of safety, quality and productivity.

Ability to read and comprehend shop orders, blueprints and working drawings written in English

Must be able to read and interpret measuring devices (tape measures, calipers, scales)

Ability to complete basic mathematical functions (add, subtract, multiply, divide) using whole numbers, fractions, decimals and metric system

Knowledge of preventive/predictive maintenance practices and troubleshooting techniques.

Must be able to work in Canada for any employer

Must have a valid G Driver's License.

Salary & Conditions:

2. Salary: $25 - $28 per hr, depending on profile and experience

3. Days of work: Monday to Friday - Permanent Full-time position, 40 hours per week

4. Shift: Morning shift only (no night or afternoon shift) -> 8:30 am to 5 pm

5. This is NOT a rotating shift work

The hiring is open to all applicants able to work 40 hours per week.
