Join a fully funded 3.5-year PhD program at the University of Manchester, focusing on developing advanced thin-film composite mixed-matrix membranes for efficient gas separation applications. Experience practical insights through SLB.
This academic project, in collaboration with SLB, aims to create data-driven solutions for membrane technology facing industrial challenges in carbon capture. Candidates must have a solid academic background in relevant sciences or engineering fields, alongside programming capabilities in differential equations.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop a digital twin model for membrane performance • Validate designs with empirical data from experiments • Investigate structural changes under high-pressure conditions • Assess degradation and permeability dynamics • Engage in an internship with SLB for data access
Requirements: • Relevant honours degree minimum of 2.1 or master’s • Strong programming skills for mathematical modeling • Knowledge in chemical or mechanical engineering disciplines • Experience with computational models in research • Enthusiasm for industry-aligned academic research
