JOB OVERVIEW

REPORTS TO: Senior Director, Resident Services

The Regional Manager of Wellness Services is responsible for providing leadership, oversight, and support for resident care, wellness, recreation, and resident engagement services within their assigned Spring Living communities.

Reporting to the Senior Director, Resident Services, the Regional Manager of Wellness Services works closely with Executive Directors, Director of Health and Wellness and community leadership teams to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality, resident-centred wellness services. The role provides operational and clinical support, promotes regulatory compliance, monitors quality and performance, and supports the implementation of enterprise-wide wellness initiatives.

The Regional Manager of Wellness Services will serve as a key resource to community teams, helping to strengthen care practices, resident outcomes, recreation programming, team performance, and overall resident experience.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Wellness & Resident Care Leadership:

- Provide day-to-day leadership and support to community wellness teams within the assigned portfolio.
- Support Director of Health and Wellness in ensuring residents receive safe, compassionate, and person-centred care.
- Monitor the delivery of wellness services and ensure established Spring Living standards are consistently followed.
- Provide guidance on resident care concerns, changes in resident condition, complex care situations, and escalated wellness issues.
- Support effective care planning, documentation, communication, and follow-up.
- Promote resident independence, dignity, choice, and quality of life.
- Ensure wellness services are delivered within the scope of services permitted by applicable legislation and Spring Living policies.
- Identify opportunities to improve resident care and wellness outcomes.

Recreation & Resident Engagement:

- Provide leadership and support to community recreation and resident engagement programs.
- Ensure recreation programming reflects residents’ interests, abilities, preferences, and needs.
- Support communities in developing meaningful programs that promote physical, cognitive, emotional, social, and spiritual well‑being.
- Monitor resident participation and engagement in recreation programming.
- Share best practices and innovative programming ideas across assigned communities.
- Support the development of initiatives that enhance the overall resident experience.
- Collaborate with community leadership to identify opportunities to increase resident engagement and satisfaction.

Quality Assurance & Compliance:

- Monitor compliance with Spring Living wellness policies, procedures, and standards.
- Support communities in maintaining compliance with the Retirement Homes Act, 2010, applicable regulations, and other relevant requirements.
- Conduct regular wellness reviews, audits, and assessments within assigned communities.
- Review trends related to falls, medication incidents, adverse events, hospitalizations, complaints, and other wellness indicators.
- Develop and monitor corrective action plans where opportunities or deficiencies are identified.
- Support regulatory inspections, audits, and follow‑up activities.
- Escalate significant clinical, regulatory, safety, or resident concerns to the Senior Director, Resident Services and appropriate operational leadership.

Incident & Risk Management:

- Support communities with the management and follow‑up of resident incidents and adverse events.
- Review incidents to identify trends, contributing factors, and opportunities for prevention.




- Assist with investigations and development of corrective and preventative action plans.
- Ensure appropriate documentation and follow‑up are completed.
- Escalate serious or high‑risk incidents in accordance with Spring Living’s escalation and Hot Issue Alert processes.
- Support the implementation of risk mitigation strategies.

Team Leadership & Development:

- Provide coaching, mentorship, and support to community wellness leaders and team members.
- Promote accountability, teamwork, professionalism, and resident‑centred service.
- Support Executive Directors with wellness team performance management where required.
- Identify training and development opportunities for wellness and recreation team members.
- Support the onboarding and orientation of new wellness leadership and team members.
- Promote succession planning and development of high‑performing wellness teams.
- Encourage a culture of continuous learning and quality improvement.

Policy & Program Implementation:

- Support the implementation of corporate wellness policies, procedures, programs, and initiatives.
- Ensure new initiatives are effectively communicated and implemented within assigned communities.
- Provide feedback to the Senior Director, Resident Services regarding the effectiveness of policies and programs.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, tools, and resources.
- Support the standardization of wellness practices across Spring Living communities.

Performance Monitoring & Reporting:

- Monitor key wellness performance indicators within assigned communities.
- Review data and trends to identify areas requiring attention or improvement.
- Prepare regular updates and reports for the Senior Director, Resident Care and Service.
- Follow up with community teams on identified performance gaps.
- Track completion of action plans and ensure appropriate follow‑through.
- Support the Senior Director, Resident Care and Service in preparing enterprise‑wide wellness reports and presentations.

Resident & Family Support:

- Support communities in addressing complex resident and family concerns related to care and wellness.
- Promote effective communication with residents, families, substitute decision‑makers, and healthcare providers.
- Support resolution of wellness‑related complaints and concerns.
- Promote a collaborative and respectful approach to resident and family relationships.
- Advocate for resident choice, dignity, safety, and quality of life.

Acquisitions & New Community Integration:

- Support the Senior Director, Resident Services with wellness‑related due diligence for potential acquisitions.
- Assist with assessing care practices, staffing, regulatory compliance, recreation programming, resident needs, and wellness risks.
- Support the implementation of Spring Living wellness standards within newly acquired communities.
- Participate in transition and integration activities as required.
- Assist with identifying immediate wellness priorities and longer‑term improvement opportunities.

Other:

- Perform other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

- RPN/LPN with the College of Nurses in Ontario (must be a member in good standing).
- Experience in progressively responsible roles with demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in seniors’ living, retirement homes, healthcare, long‑term care, or a related environment.
- Experience in a leadership or management role within a multi‑site or seniors’ living environment is preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of resident care, wellness, recreation, and resident engagement.
- Strong understanding of Ontario retirement home regulatory requirements.
- Experience with quality assurance, risk management, incident management, and regulatory compliance.
- Experience coaching and developing frontline and leadership teams.
- Solid organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with community and corporate leadership.
- Criminal Records Check and Vulnerable Persons Check required.
- Must possess a valid Ontario Driver’s License, reliable transportation, and be able to travel within Ontario.
