Experienced Reptile Lover Wanted: Care for Sparky, Our Sweet Senior Bearded DragonIn-Home Summer Care Needed for SparkyWe're looking for an experienced, caring reptile lover to look after Sparky, our senior, healthy male bearded dragon, for three weeks.Sparky is easygoing, gentle, and has lots of personality. He's looking for someone who enjoys spending a little time with reptiles—not just feeding them, but interacting with them too.Daily Care (15–20 minutes)Remove yesterday's salad and any poop, then place it in our nearby compost bin.Prepare and serve his fresh chopped salad.Check that everything looks clean and that he's doing well.Spend a few minutes talking to him or gently interacting with him—he enjoys the company.Twice a WeekFeed him his worms.We like to make feeding a little enriching by letting him "hunt" the worms before he catches them.Afterward, place a few worms in his enrichment ball. He'll happily roll it around, and any leftovers can simply be emptied the next day.EnrichmentWe keep a radio playing quietly in the background.He also enjoys watching TV for about 5–10 minutes. We'll have a few channels preset—he mostly likes to look around and see what's going on.Once a Week (About an Hour)If you have the time, we'd love for someone to let Sparky enjoy some supervised time outside his enclosure.He has his own indoor playpen, where he can safely explore while you relax nearby, read, or watch a movie. A small blanket over part of the playpen gives him a cozy hide,



and adding his enrichment ball keeps him entertained.HandlingSparky enjoys cuddles once he gets to know you.- Please remove your shoes before approaching him. Shoes can make him feel defensive.- Support him with one hand under his belly and gently guide him against your chest.- A T-shirt works best—his little claws can catch on heavier clothing, & he may scratch if he's attempting to jump off you & you're not letting him. This is why we suggest holding him while on the sofa..Once he's comfortable with you, he loves to snuggle. He may climb onto your shoulder, explore your hair (he doesn't chew it!), or even decide your head is the best seat in the house. Sitting on the sofa during cuddle time gives him a secure, soft place to explore.If you hear him scratching at the glass when you arrive, it's usually his way of saying, "I've had a poop—could someone please clean my house?"We're Looking For:Ideally, someone with experience caring for bearded dragons or other lizards.
