Role Overview The Chemical Plant Operator is responsible for taking daily inventory, unloading and loading raw materials and finished goods, as well as helping in any of the other operational departments. Chemical Plant Operators are also responsible for using and maintaining the equipment used to blend chemicals. This position will start on a day shift. After a determined training period, you will transition to the second shift.
Perform frequent walking for inventory, leak checks, and tank operations; open/close tanks and transfer lines for raw material handling.
Operate equipment such as skid loaders, forklifts, pumps, blenders, reactors, and weighing scales.
Unload and transfer raw materials (e.g., Acetic acid, Formic acid, Aqua Ammonia) using proper safety procedures and personal protective equipment, including respirators.
Read meters, charts, and instruments to ensure accurate production operations; troubleshoot and report equipment issues.
Collect, label, and deliver product samples for lab testing; prepare and label drums, totes, and other containers for shipping.
Follow batch instructions under supervision, assist in other operational areas including maintenance, and maintain a clean, safe work setting.
What You Bring To The Role
High School Diploma required.
1 to 2 years of work experience in a chemical plant and a strong understanding of chemical processing are preferred but not required.
Ability to utilize computers and /or electrical equipment.
Safety-oriented work habits.
Strong attention to detail and precision in all operations.
Good analytical, critical thinking, and evaluation abilities.
Able to tolerate temperature extremes up to 110°F in production and outside on hot days and cold outside temperatures during the winter.
Ability to work in an environment that has a moderately loud noise level.
Must pass a pulmonary function test and have a respirator clearance.
Be clean-shaven and wear a respiratory mask.
Your Digital & Technology Capabilities
Comfortable using digital systems for inventory tracking, production documentation, and data entry.
Ability to read and interpret digital gauges, control systems, and electronic production records.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications and workplace collaboration tools such as Microsoft Teams.
Ability to accurately enter and retrieve operational data.
Willingness to learn and adopt new technologies, automation systems, and digital tools that improve operational performance.
