Support Deaf and hard of hearing students as a Language Acquisition Support Worker at Gold River Worksite. This role centers on teaching American Sign Language (ASL) and facilitating communication among peers.
You will work under the guidance of the Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, helping K-12 students communicate effectively through ASL. Your responsibilities include one-on-one and group instruction, preparing materials, and promoting a collaborative learning environment. This position requires a adaptable schedule aligned with the school calendar, with benefits available after a probationary period.
Key Responsibilities:
• Instruct students in American Sign Language (ASL)
• Prepare educational materials and resources
• Facilitate communication between students and peers
• Provide language modeling and coaching for DHH students
• Ensure confidentiality of student information
Requirements:
• Grade 12 or equivalent education
• Native fluency in ASL (Level 4 or higher)
• Post-secondary training in education or related fields
• Experience with early language learners
• English competency in communication
