Associate Lawyer: Insurance Coverage Guelph, ON (Hybrid)
Full-Time, Permanent
Targeting a Fall 2026 Start
We are the 3rd fastest growing law firm in Canada. We are a boutique firm serving families across the country, focused on making home insurance claims easier for individuals and families who have suffered a residential loss, most often after devastating fires or floods. We act exclusively for policyholders.
We are seeking an Associate Lawyer to take carriage of an active caseload of insurance coverage disputes. This is a high-autonomy role: after an initial ramp-up period, you will run your own files, maintain direct client relationships, and exercise real decision-making authority. We are not a traditional firm, and we are looking for someone who wants the responsibility that comes with that.
What You'll Be Doing Taking carriage of files from intake through resolution, by negotiation, appraisal, mediation, or other dispute resolution processes
Working directly with clients to help them recover after a residential or commercial loss
Drafting and reviewing coverage opinions, demand letters, settlement materials, and correspondence
Representing clients through alternative dispute resolution processes
Collaborating with associates, paralegals, and firm leadership, while owning the outcomes on your own files
What We're Looking For Strong technical and analytical skills, including the ability to interpret complex contracts and insurance policies
Hands-on experience with property insurance claims and coverage disputes
Sound, independent judgment: you are comfortable making calls without a partner down the hall
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
A personable, practical approach and the ability to build trusted relationships with clients who are often going through the hardest period of their lives
Ambition, and an eagerness to tackle novel legal issues with creative solutions
Discretion, composure, and professionalism under pressure
Familiarity with leveraging AI tools in your workflow
Where This Role Goes We are growing quickly, and this role is built to grow with the firm. The successful candidate will have a clear path to a senior associate position and, over time, practice leadership, with direct mentorship from the firm's founder along the way. Advancement here is tied to the responsibility you take on and the results you deliver for clients, and because we practice in a developing area of law, you will be shaping precedent and practice rather than following someone else's playbook.
