Saskatoon Services for Seniors is a registered Charitable Organization which provides services to
seniors, many of them low-income, to support them living in their own owns for as long as they wish
and to do so safely. The organization is funded primarily by revenue from services provided, as well as
personal donations, corporate sponsorships and government Agency grants. As Executive Director you
will report directly to the Board of Directors and be responsible for the administration of all aspects of
the organization from revenue generation, fiscal management, operational quality and delivery including
the recruitment and maintenance of staff and working with the Board to develop and execute a winning
strategy for the organization and community. This is a unique opportunity for an enthusiastic Executive
to support this important cause. The position offers flexible schedule, and a hybrid work environment
provided goals are being met and is expected to require approximately 3 days of work per week.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Day to day operations which include housekeeping, grocery delivery, lawn and garden services,
handyman services, social support services delivered by staff and volunteers.
Business development and outreach/promotion for the services and organizational value
provided as appropriate, including marketing, advertising and promotion.
Initiate Grant Applications and Funding requests.
Financial management and risk mitigation, including compliance management.
Collaborate with the Board of Directors on Strategic Planning and provide effective reporting
and dialogue with the Board of Directors and Board Chair.
Develop a strong succession plan for the organization by developing staff and volunteers.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Undergraduate degree in Business and/or a Human Service- related field such as Social Work or
Nursing. A masters’ degree would be an asset.
Business Experience in areas such as:
Leading a business or department, including Operations/ Service delivery responsibilities,
managing / hiring staff and P&L; responsibility.
Management and inspirational leadership in the recruitment and retention of volunteers
and staff.
Experience in a not-for- profit organization.
Marketing and Advocacy, including the generation of grant and other revenue.
Financial Acumen including an understanding of financial statements and ability to
prepare cost projections and oversee day to day financial bookkeeping.
Able to work independently and report effectively to Board of Directors.
RELEVANT EXPERIENCE
The role is part time with flexibility. There is some requirements to work some evenings and weekends.
