BOKU Distillery is currently seeking a professional, personable, and hospitality-driven Part-Time Server to join our team in the Distillery District, downtown Toronto.
We are looking for someone who not only has strong serving skills, but also genuinely understands Japanese dining culture and hospitality. The ideal candidate should be able to confidently communicate with guests, introduce menu items and sake selections professionally, and create an exceptional dining experience for both local and international guests.
This is not a standard serving position — we are looking for someone who can represent Japanese food culture through thoughtful and knowledgeable service.
Responsibilities
Greet guests warmly and provide attentive, professional table service
Introduce menu items, daily features, and sake selections with confidence and enthusiasm
Provide personalized recommendations based on guests’ preferences and dietary needs
Take accurate food and beverage orders using POS systems
Serve food and drinks promptly while maintaining high presentation standards
Upsell menu items and beverages to enhance the guest experience
Maintain cleanliness and organization of dining and service areas
Collaborate closely with kitchen and bar teams to ensure smooth service flow
Handle guest concerns professionally and efficiently
Support opening, closing, and side duties as required
Requirements
Previous experience in a Japanese restaurant is required
Strong understanding of Japanese food culture, sake, and Japanese hospitality
Fluent English communication skills are required
Ability to explain menu items and provide qualified sake recommendations
Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to work efficiently in a rapid-paced setting
Experience with POS systems and cash handling
Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
Smart Serve certification required
Pay: $17.60 per hour
