Job Description
RBC is seeking a Petroleum Engineering Technician to join the Credit Risk Engineering team. In this senior-level technical position, you will support the reserves review of Canadian and U.S. oil and gas assets to determine corporate credit facility lending values. You will collaborate with professional engineers, internal stakeholders across Group Risk Management, Corporate Banking, and Investment Banking, as well as RBC’s external lending syndicate partners.
What will you do?
Prepare engineering data and financial materials for analysis
Manage the secure transfer of confidential files and reserves databases between RBC and clients
Analyze complex engineering reports and databases to create internal lending models
Support engineers with making technical adjustments to databases and running economic scenarios
Create and update engineering models needed for analysis - variance table, hedge spreadsheet, corporate ranking
Prepare pricing data from financial data sites to support management in creating global oil and gas price decks used for reserves-based lending evaluations
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
Highly proficient in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Access), and reserves economics software (i.e. ValueNavigator, Aries, Mosaic, PDHWin)
Ability to take initiative to do what it takes and manage to tight deadlines during semi-annual peak periods.
Experience handling complex assignments requiring deep financial analysis and problem-solving skills, with the ability to connect reserves evaluations to corporate performance, while communicating effectively and collaborating with teammates to deliver results.
Solid understanding of various hedge instruments and their applications in risk management
Nice-to-have
Experience with geological software programs (geoSCOUT).
