St. Joseph’s Health Centre is seeking aMedical Laboratory Technologist to join itsCore Laboratory team,comprisedofBiochemistry, Hematology, and Transfusion Medicine , supporting high-quality, patient-centered diagnostic services in a dynamic hospital environment.

The successful candidate willdemonstratestrong technical competence, adaptability, and a commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.

Duties & Responsibilities

As part of a multidisciplinary Core Laboratory team, the Medical Laboratory Technologist will:

- Performpre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical testing within their assigned discipline of the Core Laboratory.
- Rotate through all assigned workstations and support cross-coverage as operationallyrequired.
- Prioritize workload to meet turnaround times, including STAT and urgent testing.
- Identifyabnormal or discrepant results and takeappropriate action, escalating concerns toappropriate clinicalor technical resources.
- Prepare, authorize, and interpret laboratory results with accuracy and attention to quality standards.
- Respond to inquiriesregardingspecimen collection, test results, and result interpretation.
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of laboratory instruments.
- Adhere toStandard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and all components of the laboratory quality management system, including:
- Quality control (QC) testing and assessment
- Quality assurance (QA) activities
- Incident reporting and non-conformance documentation

- Participate in the development, review, and maintenance of SOPs andvalidationdocumentation.
- Support inventory, material management,



safety programs, andaccreditationreadiness.
- Participate in the training and mentorship ofnew staff, students, residents, and learners.
- Engage in test development, method validation, technical projects, and continuing education.
- Foster effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to support patient care.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

- Current registration in good standing with theCollege of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO) .
- Recent hospital laboratory experience (within the last two years) in one or more of the following areas:
- Haematology

- Demonstrated ability to work across multiple disciplines within a core laboratory model.
- Proficiencywith laboratory information systems(Epic,WellSkyTransfusion,CareSphere,Remisoland Data Innovations, Unity Real-Time)and Microsoft Office applications.
- Solid organizational skills with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced workplace.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative, team-focused approach.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
- Commitment to the hospital’s mission, values, and patient-centered care.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Experience in quality management systems, teaching, research, or method development is considered an asset.
