Lead the legal strategy as the General Counsel for the First Nations Financial Management Board, ensuring compliance and supporting self-determination. Experience a hybrid work workplace while making a difference.
This is a critical role for a legal qualified with a minimum of 10 years' experience in regulatory organizations or general counsel environments. Your work will involve drafting and negotiating legal documents, representing FMB in various proceedings, and advising on governance matters. Understanding cultural complexities and legal frameworks is vital for success in this impactful position.
Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee corporate governance and legal compliance
• Provide legal counsel for Board and organizational activities
• Draft, review,



and negotiate essential contracts
• Collaborate with external legal and government representatives
• Assess legal risks and develop proactive solutions
Requirements:
• LLB or JD with active membership in a Law Society
• 10+ years of pertinent legal experience
• Strong knowledge of ATIP and Indigenous legislation
• Excellent verbal and written communication
• Ability to work outside regular hours if needed
Contribute your legal acumen to uphold and elevate Indigenous governance at the FMB.
