The Options Community Services is a non-profit organization dedicated to delivering social services across the Southern Fraser region (Surrey, Delta, White Rock and Langley) from early childhood to seniors. Our comprehensive range of programs and services relies on collaborative relationships with individuals, businesses, community groups and government bodies to create focused, effective and responsive resources for the community.
Position Overview Are you a passionate about empowering families and nurturing children’s development? The Family Resource Program (FRP) is seeking a dedicated Support Worker to join our dynamic team. In this rewarding role, you will plan, develop, and implement engaging activities for children and their parents or caregivers attending our drop-in programs. Reporting to the Program Manager, our selected candidate will plan, implement, and supervise daily activities for children and their parents/caregivers, ensuring adherence to agency standards and provincial guidelines. Responsibilities include maintaining clean play areas, preparing nutritious snacks or meals, encouraging participant engagement, and providing information on early childhood development and community resources. The role may involve peer counseling, reporting client concerns, facilitating Parent Child Mother Goose sessions, managing program expenditures, and collaborating with other community services. Additionally, the worker will participate in program evaluations and maintain accurate records as directed by supervisors.




Qualifications The ideal candidate for this position should have an Early Childhood Education Diploma or equivalent education, training, and experience in a related field, though those with less education may still be considered. Essential skills include group facilitation, and applicants must possess a current Level I First Aid Certificate. A Food Protected Certificate and Parent Child Mother Goose Facilitator Training are additional assets.
The ideal candidate must demonstrate the ability to create age-appropriate activities for children and develop relevant program materials. Proficiency in both oral and written communication and excellent interpersonal skills are essential. The role requires adaptability in a dynamic environment, strong motivation, and sensitivity to effectively serve diverse individuals and supervise staff. Candidates should be able to work independently, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and embrace a problem-solving approach. Additionally, they must represent the organization professionally, understand community development and service delivery, maintain confidentiality, and be respectful of cultural and lifestyle diversity. A valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle are assets.
This role requires the incumbent to undergo a Police Information Check (PIC), and a Vulnerable Sector Check by the Ministry of Justice.
This role is a unionized position and, as a condition of employment, the incumbent is required to become and remain a member in good standing of the applicable bargaining unit.
