The Ministry of the Solicitor General, Hamilton-Wentworth Detention Centre, is looking for an individual with payroll experience to provide human resources and payroll support services.

About the job
In this role, you will:

Maintain accurate attendance and payroll records;

Verify payroll accuracy and prepare payroll deduction and related items;

Prepare staff payroll and overtime reports;

Submit and track hours for fixed-term contract employees;

Provide information related to benefit packages, and prepare paperwork for current, retiring or resigning employees;

Maintain up to date human resources information, manuals and files.

What you bring to the team
Specialized Knowledge:

You have knowledge and experience in providing human resources and payroll support services

You have knowledge of payroll, attendance and benefits processing requirements

You can interpret and apply human resources policies and procedures, and collective agreements provisions

Communication, Interpersonal and Organizational Skills

You can respond to inquiries in an efficient and effective manner

You can explain payroll and benefit policies and procedures to staff, and prepare written documents

You are well-organized and can prioritize work to meet competing demands and deadlines

Mathematical, Analytical and Problem Solving Skills

You can verify human resources and payroll information for accuracy

You can identify, analyze and resolve payroll and attendance discrepancies

You can calculate and reconcile data related to payroll, attendance and benefits

Computer Skills

You can use word processing, spreadsheet,



database and human resources/payroll programs to perform a variety of tasks
