Role At Making Waves Swim School, our Head Coaches are the leaders on deck. They keep lessons running smoothly, support coaches in the moment, connect with families, and help create a safe, fun, and high-quality swim experience.
This role is perfect for someone who loves teaching, enjoys helping others grow, and can bring calm, confident energy to a busy pool deck.
What You’ll Be Doing Leading the pool deck and helping each shift run smoothly
Supporting coaches with lesson quality, swimmer progress, and class flow
Teaching swimmers using our proven Small Steps approach
Ensuring Making Waves lesson plans and teaching standards are followed
Providing encouragement, guidance, and feedback to coaches
Engaging with swimmers and celebrating their progress
Communicating with families professionally and warmly
Supporting Day 1, Feedback Day, and Evaluation Day conversations
Monitoring deck safety, class needs, and swimmer experience
Helping organize master sheets, skill tracking, notes, and level updates
Communicating staff, swimmer, or family concerns to the Supervisor or Facility Manager
Supporting emergency procedures and keeping the pool deck safe, tidy, and ready for lessons
What We Offer Warm pools, approximately 90°F
Small class sizes, up to 3 swimmers per class

Qualifications Standard(Intermediate) First Aid & CPR-C
National Lifeguard
Lifesaving Instructor certification
Making Waves Coach Course (we train you) - preferred
Making Waves Parent & Tot Training - preferred
Customer Service Representative experience is an asset
Schedule Daytime, evening, and weekend shifts available
Minimum availability of 2 days per week required
