Field Service Representative - Instrumentation & Controls
to join our team at our Field Service team in Canada.
Reporting to the Regional Branch Manager, the Field Service Representative - Instrumentation & Controls assists with field service and shop activities related to industrial gas turbine control systems, instrumentation, and ancillary equipment. The position provides hands‑on support for maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, repairs, installations, and commissioning activities while developing technical skills under the guidance of senior technicians and field service representatives.
Duties
The duties may include but will not be limited to the following:
Assist senior technicians and field service representatives with field maintenance, inspections, repairs, and installation activities.
Support maintenance activities on gas turbine instrumentation, electrical systems, control systems, and associated equipment.
Perform routine inspections, testing, and basic calibration of instrumentation devices.
Assist with troubleshooting of electrical, instrumentation, and control system issues using established procedures.
Support commissioning and startup activities under supervision.
Complete service reports,
work orders, and other required documentation accurately and on time.
Maintain tools, test equipment, and company assets in a clean and serviceable condition.
Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and customer site requirements.
Participate in shop activities including equipment preparation, repairs, and testing when not assigned to field work.
Work effectively with team members to ensure customer requirements are met safely and efficiently.
Participate in training and skill development programs to expand technical knowledge and field service capabilities.
Report unsafe conditions, equipment deficiencies, and quality concerns to supervision.
Travel to customer sites as required.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Branch Manager.
Education / Experience
The minimum training and/or educational requirements for this role include:
Technical diploma, trade certification, military technical training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
2-5 years of experience in industrial maintenance, instrumentation, controls, electrical systems, mechanical maintenance, or field service.
Previous experience with power generation, rotating equipment, industrial controls, or process equipment would be considered an asset.
Willingness to travel throughout the United States and internationally when required.
Willingness to work overtime and flexible schedules during outages and customer emergencies.
Qualifications / Requirements
Basic understanding of electrical and instrumentation principles.
Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and calibration instruments.
Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals.
Basic computer skills include Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Strong willingness to learn industrial gas turbine systems and control systems.
Good interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team in shop and field environments.
Ability to work safely in industrial settings, including climbing ladders, working at heights, and lifting equipment within established safety guidelines.
Valid driver's license and ability to obtain a passport for travel if required.
