Employment and Assistance Appeal Tribunal
The Team
The Employment and Assistance Appeal Tribunal is an independent, quasi-judicial agency of the Province of British Columbia that provides fair and impartial reviews of certain ministry decisions made under the Employment and Assistance Act, the Employment and Assistance for Persons with Disabilities Act, and the Early Learning and Child Care Act. Our work ensures individuals have access to an independent appeal process guided by the principles of natural justice and administrative fairness. Our established team of 10–12 employees works collaboratively with Tribunal Members, ministry staff, and the public to deliver accessible, timely, and responsive appeal services across the province. Together, we are committed to supporting a fair hearing process that helps British Columbians exercise their rights under the legislation.
The Role
As an Appeal Coordinator, you are the primary point of contact for individuals navigating the appeal process and play a key role in ensuring appeals are managed efficiently and within legislated timelines. You provide procedural guidance, coordinate hearings, and support appellants, Tribunal Members, ministry representatives, and other stakeholders throughout the appeal process.
Qualifications: Education and Experience Requirements
Secondary school graduation or equivalent
Four (4) years administrative experience
Experience responding to enquiries and providing advice and interpretation of general policies and procedures to the public, clients and professionals both orally and in writing in a time sensitive setting
Experience with computer software programs including Outlook, Word, and Excel
Experience with a case management system
A combination of education and experience may be considered.
Preference may be given to candidates with:
One (1) year of experience working with the CaseLoad case management system
Experience in a quasi-judicial board or agency working with administrative fairness concepts and experience scheduling multi-parties for events, hearings or meetings
