Position Overview
The role of an Akb Intermediate Intern Architect requires a well-rounded set of skills, and previous exposure to all project phases.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and prepare presentation documents for clients and municipalities, including drawings, 3D renderings, graphic presentation packages and material samples
Play an integral role in preparing permit and construction drawing sets and technical details with feedback and direction from project leads, senior staff and partners
Perform effective analysis of applicable building codes, by-laws, and other regulations
Manage and coordinate with contractors, consultants, regulatory authorities in collaboration with senior staff
Develop positive relationships with clients and team members
Qualifications
Proficient with Revit, AutoCAD, Enscape, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign/Photoshop) [Please note that a Revit Skills Assessment will be administered during the hiring process]
Ability to pick up new software quickly
Strong design sensibility, technical skills and problem-solving ability
Experience preparing 3D renderings, including lighting settings, material textures, rendering assets, and furnishings
Highly detail-oriented
Flexible and able to juggle multiple tasks
Excellent communications skills
Ability to work well on a team as well as independently
Positive attitude and motivated to achieve
Education & Experience
Minimum 3-5 years of post-graduate work experience in an architectural practice
-Professional degree in architecture
High-level understanding of the Ontario Building Code (Part 9) and ability to navigate various city/townships Zoning By-laws
Experience working with clients, contractors, consultants, regulatory authorities and suppliers
Experience producing clear, visually engaging design documents - including drawings, renderings, and presentation files
Working knowledge of sustainable practices during all project phases, including solar design, healthy natural materials, and embodied carbon considerations; knowledge of passive house principals is an asset
Remote work is not an option for this role

Member of the Ontario Association of Architects
Member of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada
LEED and/or Passive House accreditation and knowledge of sustainable technologies
