The Opportunity
RVS invites applications for a continuing, full-time (35 hrs/wk) Events and Community Partnerships Officer position starting October 2, 2026 at the Education Centre located in Airdrie, Alberta.
Reporting to the Director of Communications and Engagement, the Events and Community Partnerships Officer plays a key role in advancing Rocky View Schools' (RVS) strategic priorities through impactful communications, event management and partnership engagement. This position leads the planning and delivery of division-wide events and recognition initiatives while supporting the development and promotion of meaningful partnerships that enhance student learning and strengthen community connections.
Working collaboratively with schools, Education Centre staff, the community and other external partners, the Events and Community Partnerships Officer develops engaging communications, coordinates key events and helps tell the stories that showcase the impact of RVS programs, people and partnerships.
Responsibilities Include
Lead the planning, coordination, delivery, and evaluation of division events, ceremonies, celebrations and engagement activities
Develop and implement partnership recognition and communication strategies that celebrate contributions and highlight the impact of partnerships on student learning
Serve as the central coordinator for partnership recognition initiatives, ensuring a consistent and strategic approach across the organization
Identify and promote partnership success stories through a variety of communication channels
Research, write and edit a broad range of internal and external communications materials and content
Contribute to the ongoing review and update of both the internal and corporate websites to ensure quality and accuracy of information
Provide team/client counsel to understand communications objectives and make recommendations on tactics and communications strategies
Build and maintain highly effective relationships
Support Executive and Board members on communications approaches with support from the Director
Participate in crisis response as required
Liaise with external agencies, partners, vendors, media, etc.
Support engagement plans, tools, data collection and analysis, and communication
Demonstrate and model a genuine appreciation for, and understanding of, protocol, discretion, and professionalism in RVS
Embrace and model the use of technologies within RVS
Understand, comply with and model all legal and RVS requirements for safety and health, as they pertain to the workplace
Engage in professional development on an ongoing basis
Education/Experience
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing or a related field
Minimum of three years' related experience in communications, marketing, event management, engagement or a related discipline
Event management experience would be considered an asset
Previous experience within a school division or public sector would be considered an asset
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
Knowledge and Skills
Demonstrated skills in interpersonal communication and public relations
Sound judgement and decision-making ability
Demonstrated event planning and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
Experience creating digital communications assets, including graphics, presentations, infographics, video or social media content
Proficient writing and editing skills
Ability to successfully work in a team setting as well as independently with minimal supervision
High attention to detail and commitment to quality
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and web-based applications
Experience with SharePoint and Office 365
